Jerome County Disaster Services

Office of Emergency Management

Jerome County Disaster Services, previously known as Civil Defense, is a local government agency responsible for disaster preparedness. This office represents Jerome County, Cities of Eden, Hazelton and Jerome, and works closely with other local, state, and federal agencies to help our community prepare for natural and man-made disasters and emergencies. This site contains information regarding training, the Jerome County Local Emergency Planning Committee, links to other organizations and items of interest.

It is the goal of Jerome County Disaster Services to protect lives and property within the boundaries of Jerome County.  This is accomplished by:

  • Identifying hazards and risks that may affect residents of Jerome County.
  • Maintaining County Emergency Response Plans that address roles and responsibilities during emergencies and disasters.
  • Identifying specialized resources such as volunteers, equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure coordination and communication between local, state & federal government agencies, business and industry, and volunteer agencies.
  • Providing public education and information.
